Job Title: Lead Mechanic for Fleet Maintenance

Job Summary:

Lodi Unified School District seeks a skilled and experienced Lead Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our fleet maintenance department, you will lead a crew of mechanics in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered buses.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and work with a crew of mechanics to diagnose and repair complex mechanical malfunctions.
  • Direct the work of journey-level mechanics and ensure that all repairs are carried out to the highest standard.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure that maintenance schedules are met and that fleet vehicles are kept in good working order.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management to ensure that maintenance needs are met and that any issues are resolved promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including mileage, hours, and costs.
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed, and manage inventory levels.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Valid California Class B driver's license or higher.
  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and skill levels.

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants must be willing to undergo a pre-employment physical examination and a background check.
  • Applicants must be able to furnish their own standard automotive mechanic hand tools.
