Chief Building Engineer

ABM Industries is seeking a highly skilled Chief Building Engineer to oversee the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical systems within a property. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and experience in commercial office buildings.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise maintenance operations and physical condition of the property to ensure highest standards of tenant and client satisfaction within the allotted budget.
- Develop and maintain an ongoing maintenance operation for the property, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, and other related activities.
- Inspect and evaluate physical condition of the asset, including all tenant space, public areas, and back of house, and complete inspection reports on a regular and timely basis.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure high level of customer satisfaction and respond to client requests in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Order material and complete work assignments on time and by a specified date, and perform work within departmental expense plans.
- Maintain property by managing painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, mechanical, and other related maintenance activities, and notify management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
- Interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies to maintenance employees, and establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Supervise and motivate maintenance staff, including coaching, counseling, evaluating, and training activities, and communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees.
- Attend periodic meetings with management, conduct and/or participate in safety meetings at designated intervals with staff, and submit recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.
- Understand government regulations affecting the property's operations, ensuring the property is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of any federal, state, or municipal authority.
- 5+ years of engineering experience at a chief or supervisory level.
- Engineering skill sets which can be applied to a range of systems, maintenance programs, and engines.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues, detailed level of project management for regulatory compliance modifications.
- Excellent verbal and technical writing skills needed.
