Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As an Interventional Radiologic Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our radiology department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate angiographic and ultrasound equipment to perform basic to advanced procedures on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Assist with interventional and surgical procedures as a scrub assistant, demonstrating competent knowledge of equipment and options.
  • Monitor patients and alert staff of life-threatening changes in patient status, applying the defibrillator and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required.
  • Identify and process images, ensuring diagnostic quality, and assist clinical engineering staff in evaluating digital equipment.
  • Compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy and post-process images as directed.
  • Maintain records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff, and facilitate clinical problem-solving and collaboration with other departments.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Requirements
  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 6 months.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Radiologic Technology.
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in an Interventional Radiologic Technologist role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge in radiology positioning and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of basic radiation safety and aseptic techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy, including vascular and/or cerebral.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with diverse providers.
  • Proficiency in suturing vascular access sheaths.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
Working Conditions

May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.

Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.
