Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist and/or Certified Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures at OhioHealth. This individual is responsible for preparing the operating room, gathering necessary supplies, and delivering instruments to the surgical team. They may also function as a second assistant to the surgeon and assist in the decontamination of the room and equipment post-operatively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the operating room and gather necessary supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Deliver instruments to the surgeon and other members of the surgical team intra-operatively.
  • Function as a second assistant to the surgeon as needed.
  • Assist in the proper decontamination of the room, supplies, and equipment post-operatively.
  • Monitor the sterile field and provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Understanding of surgical procedures and ability to anticipate surgeon's needs.
  • Knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care.

Work Environment:

This role is based in the Surgery Main department at OhioHealth, working a 40-hour week with a day shift schedule.
