Location: Morgan Hill, CA
Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $95,000 - $125,000 (Based on Experience) + Bonus
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the technical aspects of the production workflow.
- Ensure comprehensive process control and provide technical guidance to fellow engineers to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Lead initiatives in new product development and the integration of production processes.
- Engage in hands-on engineering tasks, utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies and problem-solving techniques to address challenges.
- Enhance and maintain the consistency of production operations, recommending upgrades to process controls as necessary.
- Possess expertise in producing continuous reinforced composite materials, adapting to evolving responsibilities.
- Conduct process engineering activities across various manufacturing processes, focusing on optimization and waste reduction.
- Identify and resolve issues related to manufacturing processes through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Establish and assess performance standards related to quality and throughput.
- Contribute to operational reviews aimed at improving safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist in investigations of operational discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Support capital projects and process enhancement initiatives.
- Participate in customer audits and site qualifications.
- Define and document product specifications and processing parameters for targeted projects.
- Evaluate and improve quality processes and safety measures.
- Create and document manufacturing processes in compliance with quality systems.
- Develop training materials for manufacturing procedures and best practices.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Manufacturing, Maintenance, R&D, and Quality Assurance, to achieve organizational goals.
- Manage multiple projects effectively.
- Address safety and environmental concerns associated with manufacturing operations.
- Assist department leads and managers in their functional responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, or a related field; advanced degrees are advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aerospace manufacturing sector, particularly with composite materials.
- Experience with prepregging or resin mixing processes is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in mentorship or supervision is preferred.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, process control, project management, and root cause analysis.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is a plus.
- Familiarity with business ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics).
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Able to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Adhere to safety protocols regarding personal protective equipment.
- Experience with composite part manufacturing, particularly in thermoset/thermoplastic resin systems.
