Postdoctoral Research Fellow

We are seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team in the Department of Biology. The successful candidate will participate in an NSF-funded project focused on the structure and function of microbial communities under hypoxia in estuarine waters.

• Conduct field and laboratory research, including sampling in Long Island Sound and collaborating with team members.
• Lead bioinformatic analyses of shotgun metagenomes and present results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
• Assist in overseeing students and general laboratory maintenance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• PhD in Biology, Microbial Ecology, Biological Oceanography, or related field required.
• Strong computational skills, with proficiency in bioinformatic analysis of microbial populations or communities.
• Drive to lead publications and co-mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

• Published record in bioinformatic analysis of shotgun metagenomes preferred.
• Experience in flow cytometry for cell quantification.
• Experience in field sampling and/or experimentation.
