Job Summary:
A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides high-quality patient care and treatment in accordance with physician orders. This role works in a team environment and within the scope of practice as defined by the state. The LPN/LVN works under the direction of physicians and registered nurses (RNs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Care Planning: Conducts physical examinations and pertinent diagnostic testing to determine patient health status.
- Medication Administration: Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Care Planning and Coordination: Participates in the care planning process and communicates with physicians regarding patient changes, diagnostic test results, and other relevant information.
- Leadership and Supervision: Supervises LPNs and nursing assistants to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Documentation and Communication: Documents assessments and care in compliance with standards of care and company policy. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Patient Education: Educates patients and their families on health-related issues and provides support to promote healthy behaviors.
- Administrative Tasks: Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
Requirements:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensure: Valid state licensure as an LPN/LVN.
- Certification: Current CPR certification.
