Position Overview

Embark on a journey to become a full-time State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA). This role is also commonly known as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). No prior experience or educational background is necessary. You will receive compensation during your on-the-job training, and we will cover the costs for your certification examination. What to Anticipate as a Nurse Aide Trainee:

Prepare for an extensive, compensated training program designed to equip you with the skills needed to become a certified State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) in Kentucky. The training includes:

Nurse Aide Responsibilities

Once certified, the Nurse Aide will be responsible for providing routine nursing care to residents under the supervision of the charge nurse. The Nurse Aide will ensure a safe and dignified environment for all assigned residents, adhering to the established policies and procedures of the facility.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

To excel in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility effectively.

Deliver quality nursing care to residents in an environment that upholds their rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and individuality, as demonstrated by the following:
  • Provide personalized attention that encourages each resident to maintain or achieve the highest possible physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Understand the individualized care plan for residents and provide support according to their needs. Contribute to the care planning process by sharing specific information and observations with the charge nurse or care planning staff.
  • Attend to the unique needs of residents, which may include assistance with grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, incontinence care, toileting, colostomy care, prosthetic appliances, transferring, ambulation, range of motion, and communication.
  • Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents while delivering services. Interact with residents in a warm manner that fosters a caring environment.
  • Fully comprehend all aspects of residents' rights, including the right to be free from restraints and abuse. Promptly report any incidents or evidence of resident abuse or rights violations to the charge nurse or administrative staff.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, tidy, and clean environment; report any environmental deficiencies to the charge nurse.
  • Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report these changes to the appropriate licensed nursing personnel.
  • Provide care that maintains each resident's skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers and skin damage by changing incontinent residents, repositioning immobile residents, and applying moisturizers to delicate skin.
  • Respond to residents' call bells promptly and courteously.
  • Perform various tasks assigned by the charge nurse, including checking vital signs, weighing residents, applying creams/ointments, and collecting specimens.
  • Assist in orienting residents and their families to the nursing home upon admission and during transfers.
  • Lift, move, and transport residents using proper body mechanics or lifting devices to prevent accidents.
  • Accompany residents to appointments, activities, or services as directed.
  • Utilize supplies and linens efficiently and follow established procedures for resident charge items.
  • Complete certified nursing assistant records documenting care provided in accordance with department policies.
  • Perform all job responsibilities following prescribed safety and infection control procedures, including thorough hand washing and proper disposal of soiled materials.
  • Engage in extensive walking throughout the unit while making rounds and transporting residents.
  • Promote a homelike environment for residents.
  • Respond to inquiries related to specific areas or requests from residents, visitors, and other personnel within established time frames and policies.

  • Frequent reaching and stretching across beds and patients to change sheets and linens, with a reach of 1 to 4 feet.

  • Finger and hand dexterity required.
  • Visual and hearing acuity essential.
  • Subject to walking on wet surfaces, moving heated equipment, and encountering unpleasant odors throughout the shift.
  • Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
  • Must be able to assist with the evacuation of residents.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile individuals within the facility.
  • Frequently works in well-lit or dimly-lit, temperature-controlled environments.

Other Requirements
  • May be required to attend activities outside the facility to stay informed about new developments, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  • May be required to work on holidays.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information.
  • All employees must remain drug-free and alcohol-free while at work and during work-related activities.
  • Comply with all Healthcare Act rules and regulations and any related laws.
