Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Dentist to join our team of healthcare professionals at the US Department of Health and Human Services. As a Staff Dentist, you will be responsible for providing a range of professional dental duties, including examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical and radiographic examinations of the oral and soft tissues
  • Diagnose pathological or irregular conditions and administer local anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide analgesia
  • Perform routine and moderately complicated tooth extractions, including surgical procedures
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformation of teeth and gums
  • Plan and carry-out dental health programs for oral disease prevention and patient education
Requirements
  • Must pass pre-employment examination
  • Selectee may be subject to a probationary period
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements for the GS-11 grade level and have a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science, or equivalent experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above. Qualified candidates will be assigned to a quality category, and veterans' preference will be given priority.
