Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Methodist Hospital Northeast. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our clinical pharmacy services.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret orders and accurately transcribe or verify them into the pharmacy computer system
  • Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals with precision and attention to detail
  • Comply with facility policy and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, and appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners, suggesting cost-effective therapeutic alternatives as needed
  • Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing nonformulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection
  • Attend and actively participate in daily multidisciplinary and bedside rounds
  • Support the hospital formulary decision process by working with medical staff to promote rational drug therapy and make improvements identified by drug utilization evaluations
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to healthcare staff and patients
  • Participate in pharmacy clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing, and other programs as defined by Pharmacy Leadership
Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
  • Minimum of 1 year of hospital clinical pharmacy experience or at least 2 years of general hospital pharmacy experience required; preferably within area of focus
  • Completion of hospital PGY1 / pharmacy general practice residency or fellowship
  • BCPS certification or other Board of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) certification
  • Current Registered Pharmacist licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy or licensed pharmacist in another state: Provide proof of the Authorization to Test (ATT) from the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
