Job Purpose:

Manage and ensure the purchasing of materials, services, and/or equipment for the assigned purchasing portfolio, within the set procurement policies and guidelines, to ensure an uninterrupted and timely supply at optimum cost within specifications.

General Job Requirements:

This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews customer orders on a daily basis
  • Contact potential vendors, perform reference checks, review quotations and evaluate each purchase requisition for the most appropriate methods of procurement
  • Review purchase orders for accuracy
  • Review purchase requisition (PR) for accuracy and convert the PR to Purchase Order (PO)
  • Establish priorities for assigned commodities with key vendors and ensure priorities are maintained
  • Maintain effective communication with both internal and external customers
  • Interface with all levels of management both internally and externally
  • Continuously strive to reduce the cost of assigned commodities
  • Interact with engineering department to assist in the sourcing of materials, with respect to cost, quality, and availability of materials
  • Generate reports per specified processes that measure key buyer performance metrics

Qualifications:

  • **Minimum**
  • 2-3+ years experience in a similar position
  • At minimum High School Diploma, preferred Associate's or bachelor's degree in procurement or a related field
  • Knowledge of software programs, including MS Office, etc.
  • **Preferred**
  • Foreign language is a plus, English a must
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment.
  • Knowledge of MRP and ERP
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment and material costing
  • Knowledge of market analysis and supplier relationship
  • 2-4 year college degree or higher in business or related field
