About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Patient Authorization Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing contract patient authorization status issues and reporting on relevant measures.

This position requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. You will be working closely with programs to provide treatment plan updates and correspond with SAPC regarding ongoing authorizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review ASAM assessments and relevant items in SAGE and AVATAR systems to determine appropriate patient authorization needs.
  • Apply for initial and re-authorizations with SAPC in SAGE for all levels of care.
  • Communicate with programs to provide treatment plan updates and correspond with SAPC regarding ongoing authorizations.
  • Review reports for authorization updates and communicate with programs about authorization status.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health care field or high school diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years' work experience in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  • Prior experience in auditing and/or quality assurance in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, authorization processes is preferred.
