The Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic testing and assisting with interventional procedures in Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic testing, including X-ray and interventional procedures, according to established departmental procedures.
- Assist physicians with procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.
- Operate diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results.
- Manage patients during diagnostic procedures to meet quality patient care standards.
- Ensure supplies are maintained and report problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.
- Support Interventionalists by scrubbing in during procedures and documenting events.
- Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.
- 1-2 years of interventional cardiology experience preferred.
- Peripheral experience preferred.
- Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection.
- HSCPR required.
- Registry or Registry Eligible American Registry of Radiology Technologist.
- BLS required.
- ACLS required within 12 months from date of hire or transfer.
The Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist may be exposed to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including blood-borne pathogens, infectious diseases, and radiation exposure.
The position requires:
- Considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Extensive standing (wearing lead) and walking, including stairs.
- Lifting approximately 25-50 pounds frequently.
- Lifting approximately 50 to 100 pounds with assistance occasionally.
- Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment.
- Transporting patients on stretchers unassisted.
- Manual dexterity to hand off instruments.
- Maneuvering in small work areas congested with cords, foot pedals, and various equipment consoles.
