Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic testing and assisting with interventional procedures in Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic testing, including X-ray and interventional procedures, according to established departmental procedures.
  • Assist physicians with procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results.
  • Manage patients during diagnostic procedures to meet quality patient care standards.
  • Ensure supplies are maintained and report problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.
  • Support Interventionalists by scrubbing in during procedures and documenting events.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.
  • 1-2 years of interventional cardiology experience preferred.
  • Peripheral experience preferred.
  • Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection.
  • HSCPR required.
  • Registry or Registry Eligible American Registry of Radiology Technologist.
  • BLS required.
  • ACLS required within 12 months from date of hire or transfer.
Work Environment

The Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist may be exposed to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including blood-borne pathogens, infectious diseases, and radiation exposure.

The position requires:

  • Considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Extensive standing (wearing lead) and walking, including stairs.
  • Lifting approximately 25-50 pounds frequently.
  • Lifting approximately 50 to 100 pounds with assistance occasionally.
  • Pushing and pulling of heavy equipment.
  • Transporting patients on stretchers unassisted.
  • Manual dexterity to hand off instruments.
  • Maneuvering in small work areas congested with cords, foot pedals, and various equipment consoles.
