Position Overview
The Pastry Artist is tasked with executing responsibilities as assigned by the Bakery Manager and/or Assistant Bakery Manager to ensure the efficient functioning of the Bakery section. The Pastry Artist is dedicated to ensuring that all customers of Kennie's Market's, Inc. receive premium quality products alongside exceptional customer service.
Qualifications
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or one (1) to three (3) months of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficient in reading and understanding basic instructions, brief correspondence, and memos. Capable of writing simple correspondence. Able to effectively communicate information in individual and small group settings to customers and fellow employees.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Competent in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure; utilizing whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to calculate rates, ratios, and percentages; and to interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Capable of addressing issues involving multiple concrete variables in standardized scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist customers at the bakery display.
  • Process cake orders from patrons.
  • Prioritize and fulfill special cake requests punctually for customer collection.
  • Maintain an adequately stocked cake display.
  • Sanitize bakery preparation area and all cake decorating equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments when store-wide sales promotions necessitate.
  • Support colleagues in other departments when business needs arise.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols as outlined by the organization.
  • Regularly operate equipment with moving mechanical components.
  • Work in humid conditions and heat from ovens.
  • Function in an environment with low to moderate noise levels.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as directed by the Bakery Manager, Assistant Bakery Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or Store Manager.
