About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Pulmonary Care Specialist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Job Summary:

The Pulmonary Care Specialist will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and services related to respiratory therapy. This includes operating specialized ventilators, administering medication treatments and therapies, and educating patients on self-care and disease management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment and Care: Use Respiratory therapy processes to assess patient needs and provide personalized care. Identify and address special needs of patient population specific to department services.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues. Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment. Troubleshoot equipment as necessary and identify the need for service and/or repair.
  • Education and Instructed: Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management. Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills. Provide clear, concise, timely, and accurate patient handoff. Promote a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm.

Requirements:

  • Licensure and Certification: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices. Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Education and Experience: Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program, with a minimum of an associate degree. No experience required.
  • Skills and Abilities: Effective organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Problem-solving and decision-making skills for patient care and equipment use. Proficient computer skills and electronic medical record systems.

Benefits and Compensation:

Our competitive compensation package includes a salary range of $31.10 - $46.60 per hour, based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and internal equity. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including shift differentials, 401(k) company contribution, and opportunities for yearly merit increases within the salary range.
