This position works out of our Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active.

• Provide input and oversight into sanitary design elements of new and existing equipment
• Responsible for evaluating effectiveness of current & future sanitation practices and procedures
• Assist in development, planning, and execution of all plant-related facility engineering activities
• Gather and review data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility
• Coordinate in developing facilities modifications or acquisitions
• Review and estimate design cost including equipment, installation, labor, materials, ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, schedules
• Develop facility management policies and procedures
• Responsibilities include supporting HVAC, DI water, process gas, desiccant dryers, humidifier, generators, compressors, chillers, etc.
• Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments

• B.S. in Engineering with a preference for a Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
• 3+ years of experience with engineering responsibility in a regulated industry, with preference being for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics, etc.
• Ability to work independently, good troubleshooting skills, perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, ensure compliance with engineering specifications and local building codes
• Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
• Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
• Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
