Transportation Security Officer

As a Transportation Security Officer with the Transportation Security Administration, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of air travelers and the aviation system. Your primary responsibility will be to screen passengers and their carry-on items for prohibited items and to prevent potential security threats from entering the airport.

- Operate various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects
- Perform searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers
- Control terminal entry and exit points
- Interact with the public, giving directions and responding to inquiries
- Must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National
- Must have reached the minimum age (18) at the time of application
- Selective Service registration is required
- Must pass a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation
- Subject to post-employment random drug and/or alcohol testing
- Must be available to work various shifts and overtime, as needed
- Must be proficient in English (e.g., reading, writing, speaking, comprehending)
As a Transportation Security Officer, you will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. You will be required to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to work overtime. You will also be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and to follow all safety protocols.
