Inova Health System is seeking a highly skilled Vascular Sonographer to join our team of medical imaging professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Administer sound patient care practices according to hospital/department policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Complete ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations.
- Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and employees.
- Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent to assist physicians in optimizing examination performance and interpretation.
- Assist physicians in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile technique to ensure optimal department functions.
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.
- Demonstrate proper technique for injection of IV contrast or other test-enhancing solutions under the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Standards.
- Certification: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Certified Cardiovascular Sonographer (RCS)
- Certification for Echo or Vascular Sonography
- BLS Certification
- Licensure: None required
- Experience: Three years or more of experience in a hospital/healthcare environment in the performance of cardiac or vascular sonography
- Education: Sonography graduate of an accredited school/program or five years of specialized training in a hospital/healthcare environment
