Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mammography Technologist to join our team at Radiology Associates of Daytona. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Mammographic Radiographic Equipment: Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate, following safety standards and using radiation protection when operating radiologic equipment.
- Position Patients for Exams: Position patients for exams, calculate exposure factors, and assist physicians as needed.
- Perform Quality Control Functions: Perform the quality control functions related to mammography, including evaluating radiographs for diagnostic quality and obtaining additional images as needed.
- Prepare Medical Supplies: Prepare medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate, and explain procedures to patients.
- Provide Orientation to New Technologists: Provide orientation to new Mammography Technologists.
- Assist in Maintenance and Compilation of Statistical Data: Assist in maintenance and compilation of statistical data.
- Demonstrate Proficiency in Performing All Breast Imaging Procedures: Demonstrate proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, to include breast interventional procedures.
- Education: Associate's degree (A.A.) in Radiologic Technology program or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.
- Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in radiologic imaging modalities; one year of Mammography experience preferred. Experience with tomosynthesis preferred.
- Certifications and Licensure: Licensed in the State of Florida and ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)). Current ARRT certification in Mammography (M) preferred, or must be obtained within first 6 months of employment in position. BLS Certification.
- Proficiency with Mammography Procedures and Protocols: Proficiency with mammography procedures and protocols.
- Anatomy and Physiology: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Experience with Radiologic Equipment: Experience with the use, QA, and troubleshooting of various types of radiologic equipment.
- Radiation Safety and Protection: Knowledge of radiation safety and protection requirements for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Interventional Procedures: Experience with interventional procedures for the breast.
- Computer and Network Systems: Ability to use computer and network systems for processing and submitting images for interpretation by radiologist.
- Emergency Response: Ability to respond to untoward medical event with calm demeanor and proficiency.
- Communication Skills: Ability to work in a cooperative nature with all departmental staff, patients, and families, and effectively communicate both written and verbally.
