Job Summary

The Sales Floor Associate plays a vital role in assisting the store management team in achieving operational goals by performing various tasks within the retail location. This position involves learning and working in different capacities, including Cashier, Textiles or Wares Producer, Donation Door Attendant, E-commerce Producer, e-Books Producer, and Rack or Cart Runner.

Key ResponsibilitiesCashier:
  • Rings up customer orders, maintains a balanced cash drawer, and adheres to cash handling procedures and protocols.
  • Provides general information about Goodwill programs to educate customers and answers questions, directing higher-level inquiries to the appropriate associate or manager.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the sales floor, including purging, colorizing, running racks, and merchandising.
Textiles or Wares Producer:
  • Sorts products to identify quality and value, checking for defects and cleaning as needed, and properly barbs, tags, and hangs textiles or wares.
  • Groups textiles by category, including light to dark and solid to prints.
  • Produces 100 pieces per hour, adhering to Goodwill's pricing standards, and updates the daily production tracking sheet.
  • Occasionally uses a pallet jack and regularly uses a conveyor belt.
Donation Door Attendant:
  • Accepts donations from customers and maintains a clean and clear donation door, educating customers on current Goodwill promotions, including the rewards program.
  • Quickly and accurately sorts products and distributes them to the appropriate areas.
  • Maintains an efficient working area by ensuring the backroom is clean and organized, including labeling boxes and keeping everything in its place.
  • Loads and unloads trucks as needed and regularly uses heavy equipment, including a pallet jack, double stacker, floor scrubber, and hydraulic lift.
E-commerce Producer:
  • Develops a keen eye to identify and secure items of value for online sales.
  • Stays informed of market values through online research and properly tags, itemizes, and secures items for online sales.
  • Properly palletizes, wraps, and ships items to meet store quotas for online sales.
e-Books Producer:
  • Scans books received by the store and decides which items to send to online sales or display in-store.
  • Prints inventory sheets and packs, seals, and ships items for online sales.
  • Identifies top-selling items and manages a clean, organized, and visually appealing in-store display.
Rack and Cart Runner:
  • Checks each rack or cart to ensure quality and value.
  • Properly colorizes, merchandises, and purges the sales floor.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly sales floor, puts away carts, and stocks shelves.
  • Runs one textile rack or wares cart per 15 minutes and updates the daily production tracking sheet.
Requirements
  • Ability to spend time in excess of 8 hours sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Ability to move and lift 10-50 pounds.
  • Ability to manage frequent exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations.
