Position Overview

A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) is actively seeking a qualified Family Medicine Academic Faculty member. This role is integral to the Family Medicine Residency Program and involves collaboration with various educational leaders within the institution. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering essential family medicine services to the Northeast Missouri community while also engaging in educational activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and evaluate residents within the Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Deliver comprehensive patient care, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for a designated patient demographic.
  • Mentor and supervise medical students assigned to the clinic.
  • Engage in various committees and task forces to enhance program quality and compliance.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty to foster a supportive educational environment.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process for residency candidates.
  • Encourage resident involvement in educational and research initiatives.
  • Coordinate patient care activities with nursing and support staff as necessary.
  • Adhere to established departmental protocols and quality improvement measures.
  • Provide ongoing medical services to patients consistently.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on trainee performance as required.
  • Work alongside the program director to ensure adherence to accreditation standards.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to program development.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of clinical presentations and curriculum materials.
  • Assist in addressing assessment-related issues impacting students and faculty.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of policies affecting the academic community.
  • Conduct interviews for prospective KCOM applicants and participate in relevant committees.
  • Develop educational objectives, instructional materials, and assessment tools for medical courses.
  • Complete an annual Faculty Activity Report.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
  • Board Certification in Family Medicine is required.
  • Experience in medical education and teaching at the higher education level is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in developing and assessing educational content for medical students.
