Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patent Paralegal to join our team at Novartis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative and legal support to our patent practitioners, including filing patent applications, reviewing correspondence, and maintaining accurate dockets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Filing patent applications and reviewing related correspondence in EP/US/PCT and foreign jurisdictions
  • Preparing documents required for patent applications and responses to official communications
  • Developing knowledge of the latest patent rules and adapting practices to comply
  • Maintaining and updating electronic dockets and assigned paralegal tasks on a daily basis
  • Monitoring and ensuring timely completion of assigned cases and deadlines
  • Assisting responsible attorneys with general administrative tasks and reviewing and maintaining their dockets and workload
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues, inventors, foreign agents, and other associates
  • Participating in patent group and cross-divisional meetings
  • Providing support in other areas within the Operations team as needed

Requirements:

  • Paralegal certification or equivalent experience
  • University/College education preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a patent paralegal in a law firm or corporation
  • Knowledge of EP/US/PCT foreign patent formalities and law, and strong understanding of requirements in other major territories
  • Ability to work in a multifaceted environment with high quality
  • English written and spoken language skills

Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $92,800 and $139,200/year. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
