We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team at the Department of the Navy. Key Responsibilities- Assist customers in responding to inquiries from higher review authorities regarding cybersecurity-related elements of submitted documentation.
- Provide operations and maintenance support, system upgrades, security application, architecture, and general management for servers, databases, and applications residing in facilities.
- Maintain oversight of all routers, firewalls, switches, boundary authentication devices, wireless, and physical cable plants.
- Coordinate and/or assign work assignments to subordinates based on organizational priorities, selective consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and/or capabilities of employees.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
- Within the Department of Defense, the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after must be registered for Selective Service.
- Will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- One year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies:
- Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information, uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.
