Local Truck Operator

Job Overview

Glen-Gery is seeking a skilled and safety-oriented truck operator to join our team. This position is essential for supporting the operations at our retail center. The primary focus will be on local deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute deliveries as required
  • Manage the loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Safely operate powered industrial equipment
  • Collaborate with yard personnel to assist in loading & unloading, preparing orders, and maintaining an organized yard
  • Participate in month-end inventory checks and address any discrepancies
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service
  • Effective organizational, mathematical, computer, and clerical abilities
  • Capability to operate heavy yard machinery safely and efficiently
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with building materials, proper storage, and safe handling practices is advantageous
  • Safety-focused mindset
  • Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL Class A with Air Brakes endorsement
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent technical training
  • Preferred experience of one to two years in material handling or delivery within the building products sector
