Survey Crew Chief

VHB's Vermont office is seeking a Survey Crew Chief - Geomatics to lead our team in delivering high-quality survey services. As a key member of our Geomatics team, you will be responsible for directing the activities of a survey crew in the performance of Boundary/ALTA surveys, Topographic surveys, Construction and post-construction surveys, and transportation surveys.
Responsibilities- Direct the activities of a survey crew in the performance of various survey tasks.
- Maintain proper care of survey equipment.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements.
- Maintain documentation of all phases of survey work.
- Perform public records research.
- Use public records in the execution of survey field work.
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and evaluating the significance of survey, right-of-way, engineering, and architectural drawings with respect to each survey project.
- Proficient in the operation of total station with electronic data collecting capability.
- Proficient in the operation of GPS equipment.
- Proficient in the operation of auto level equipment.
- Proficient in field survey methods and techniques.
- Ability to perform tasks independently and to assign and review work of others.
- Proficient in the fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently.
- Desire for continued growth in the Land Surveying profession.
- 1+ years of progressive professional land surveying experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Land Surveying/Engineering or related field helpful, but not required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D desirable, but not required.
- Experience with Microstation, Inroads, and OpenRoads desirable, but not required.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) desirable, but not required.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
