Job OverviewDirect Edge is seeking a highly skilled Prepress Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing digital files for print, ensuring color accuracy, and managing workflows in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- File Preparation: Prepare and process digital files for various print projects, ensuring all files meet the necessary specifications.
- Color Management: Implement and maintain color management systems, ensuring consistent and accurate color reproduction across different printing processes.
- Proofing: Generate and review digital proofs, soft proofs, and press proofs to verify accuracy in color and content before final print production.
- Workflow Management: Collaborate with the design, production, and print teams to manage and streamline the prepress workflow, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Quality Control: Conduct final checks and quality control of files to ensure all elements are print-ready, including trapping, overprinting, and resolution adjustments.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues related to prepress, including color inconsistencies, file errors, and print production challenges.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize prepress software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), RIP software, and color management tools to prepare files accurately and efficiently.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all prepress equipment, including proofing devices and printers, are calibrated and functioning correctly to maintain color accuracy.
Requirements:
- Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a prepress role within the printing industry, with a strong focus on color management.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, RIP software, and color management systems (e.g., GMG ColorProof, EFI Fiery).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of color theory, color profiles (ICC), and print production processes.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct issues before they impact final print quality.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve prepress issues quickly and efficiently.
