Job Description
The Bridge is seeking a Shelter Advocate to provide critical support services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence in a 100-bed Emergency Shelter setting. As a key member of our team, you will provide case management, crisis intervention, and on-call accompaniments to clients, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your expertise will help clients develop and update goals, access employment, healthcare, and other self-sufficiency resources. You will also advocate for residents by accompanying them to legal proceedings, providing legal referrals, and educating them about the legal system. Additionally, you will prepare documentation of services provided to residents in compliance with grant objectives. Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate's/Bachelor's degree in a social sciences field or equivalent experience in social services or customer-related field.
  • Ability to establish rapport and work with at-risk populations.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to work independently.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or proficiency in another language.
Other Requirements
  • Must pass a criminal background investigation check.
  • Must pass a drug screen.
  • Must provide and maintain a current TX Driver's License.
  • Must provide and maintain a clean driving record and annually update driving record.
  • Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 40 lbs and ascend/descend stairs in an emergency shelter setting.
