Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Gigafactory in Austin, TX. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment for our power electronics products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds.
  • Determine and procure equipment necessary for all manufacturing processes used to build the product.
  • Work with equipment integrators to design and manufacture equipment and fixtures for medium to high-volume production.
  • Manage suppliers during specification, design, buyoff, and installation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor.
  • Develop new manufacturing processes and create detailed manufacturing instructions to train technicians and line operators on new processes and equipment.
  • Determine layout of production workstations for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency.
  • Perform process analysis, DOE, PFMEA, line balancing activities, and capacity modeling/simulation.
  • Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield improvements.

Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a hands-on mechanical/manufacturing/design engineer working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA).
  • Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (Fanuc preferred).
  • Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan, Tesla also offers generous paid time off and holidays.
