Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Seafood Clerk to join our team at 99 Ranch Market. As a Seafood Clerk, you will be responsible for maintaining the freshness and quality of our seafood products, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Display and merchandise seafood products in a visually appealing manner, ensuring that all products are properly signed and well-merchandised.
  • Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, including aisles and common walking areas, to prevent injury and ensure a safe shopping environment.
  • Unload and break down deliveries, replenish products to meet customer needs, and rotate stock to ensure freshness.
  • Process seafood products, including skinning, cleaning, and cutting fish upon customer request, and frying and/or steaming seafood products as needed.
  • Log and record all activities, including equipment usage and inventory management, in accordance with company policies and state food safety and health regulations.
  • Stock, ship, and distribute product items to production teams, following the First-In First-Out (FIFO) method and monitoring cooler/freezer temperatures to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service, proactively reaching out to customers and responding to their needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct monthly inventory counts with other team members and maintain the cleanliness of seafood tanks and appliances.
  • Clean and sanitize display cases, scales, and counters, and maintain work areas in a safe and organized manner.
  • Inspect the quality of seafood products and remove any unmarketable items to maintain the overall appeal of the department.
  • Perform other duties as required to meet business needs.
Requirements
  • Previous seafood department experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general seafood product lines or similar experience.
  • Availability to work on weekends and holidays or rotating schedules.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and company policies.
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate the quality of products.
  • Requires proper training and knowledge of equipment operation.
Physical Demands
  • Standing for extended periods is commonly required.
  • Good manual dexterity for the use of processing equipment such as cutters or labeling.
  • Lifting items weighing 30 lbs or more with appropriate equipment.
  • Able to work occasionally in environment temperatures ranging from 32o to 50°F.
