Position Overview
The Pediatric Care Registered Nurse (RN) is a dedicated full-time professional working an average of 36+ hours per week in our specialized health centers.
The Facility RN plays a crucial role in ensuring high standards in the planning, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. This position also involves providing education and support to families as necessary, while overseeing the activities of LPNs and other support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts initial patient assessments upon admission and collaborates in creating personalized nursing care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Continuously monitors and documents patient conditions through regular observation and assessment.
- Identifies and prioritizes patient care needs to ensure the delivery of quality nursing services.
- Executes physician orders and promptly communicates any changes in patient status to the primary healthcare provider.
- Maintains comprehensive nursing progress notes detailing the care provided, including patient condition, treatment changes, and family education.
- Coordinates care with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient treatment.
- Fosters collaborative relationships with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Evaluates family dynamics and provides necessary support to assist families in coping with their child's medical and developmental challenges.
- Regularly reviews and updates nursing care plans based on patient progress and established goals.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures while acting in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills and maintains professionalism in all interactions.
- Supervises nursing care provided by LPNs and unlicensed personnel, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Participates in case management meetings, staff conferences, and training sessions.
- Exhibits initiative and problem-solving abilities, making informed nursing judgments.
- Stays informed on current trends and advancements in pediatric nursing care.
- Assists in onboarding new staff, serving as a knowledgeable resource.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and family information.
- Adapts care activities to suit the age and developmental needs of patients.
- Administers various treatments and medications as prescribed, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Responds effectively to pediatric emergencies and implements necessary interventions.
- Completes required training and certifications as mandated by the organization.
Qualifications
- Valid registered nurse license in the relevant state.
- No history of disciplinary action related to nursing licensure.
- Proficient in the use of home medical equipment and understanding of complex pediatric care.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification.
- Negative TB test results or chest X-ray documentation.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Knowledgeable in providing quality care for medically complex pediatric patients.
