Job Title: Cost Accountant

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at Special-Lite Inc. As a Cost Accountant, you will play a critical role in analyzing product costs, developing new product cost, and optimizing financial aspects of our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Product Costing: Create and maintain product standard costing across plants, analyze and report gross margin across product groups, and analyze and report manufacturing costs actual to standards in plants.
  • Financial Analysis: Partner with new product teams to cost and analyze new business opportunities, identify and recommend cost-effective solutions, and participate in month and year-end closings.
  • Inventory Management: Create and reconcile monthly Inventory Perpetual ledger to General Ledger reporting, work proactively with Operations staff at multiple sites to drive Inventory optimization, and co-lead bi-annual physical inventory.
  • General Ledger Accounting: Back up other key members of the accounting and finance team in AP, AR, and General Ledger.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Applications, excellent analytical skills with attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of cost accounting and general accounting procedures, general ledger accounting experience including month and year-end closing, and manufacturing or construction accounting experience.
Work Environment:
  • Physical Requirements: Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate office equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to talk and hear. Frequently required to sit for long periods of time. Required to occasionally stand and walk. Occasionally required to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 10-pounds.
  • Work Environment: Safety glasses are always required on the production floor. Hearing protection is required in designated areas. Occasionally subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current and exposure to heat and chemicals.
