Job Overview

The role of the Driver is integral to the operations of a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor, Human Learning Systems. This federally funded program is dedicated to equipping youth aged 16-24 with the skills necessary for thriving careers in high-demand sectors.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Driver plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of the center with Job Corps program standards, corporate policies, and applicable regulations at all levels. The objective is to foster a secure environment for staff, students, and visitors alike.

Key Duties Include:

  • Operating center vehicles as required to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Transporting students to various locations such as bus stations, airports, medical appointments, work-based learning sites, off-site training venues, high school equivalency testing locations, and recreational activities.
  • Exhibiting a supportive, responsible, and compassionate demeanor.
  • Delivering and collecting materials as instructed.
  • Conducting routine inspections of the GSA fleet vehicles.
  • Keeping precise transportation logs.
  • Notifying the supervisor of any vehicle maintenance needs.
  • Reporting any accidents to the supervisor immediately upon return to the center.
  • Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained in a clean and operational condition.
  • Following DOL, corporate, and center maintenance requirements for vehicles.
  • Maintaining timely and accurate records of vehicle and transportation activities.
  • Assisting with other departmental tasks during non-driving intervals.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • A valid state driver's license with the necessary CDL or passenger carry endorsements, along with a strong driving record.
