Histology Laboratory Specialist

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
About the Role:Under the direction of the Histology Coordinator, you will perform a wide range of duties in the day-to-day operation of the Histology and Pathology Labs. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of histology samples.
Responsibilities:- Perform histology procedures, including tissue processing, embedding, and sectioning.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes and staining equipment.
- Prepare and stain histology slides for diagnostic purposes.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience.
- A high school diploma and 2 years of full-time experience in histotechnology, within the preceding 5 years, in a histology laboratory under the supervision of a pathologist certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology Incorporated or a pathologist eligible for certification in anatomic pathology.
- Or completion of the educational requirements needed to take the Histotechnician (HT) exam; successful completion of a NAACLS accredited HT program within the last 5 years or an Associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry.
- Preferred ASCP certification or equivalent.
