Job Summary

Wakefield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate School Nurse to cover a series of long-term leaves. This position is for 5 full days per week and will last for the full academic year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive health care to students, including first aid and emergency care.
  • Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct health screenings and assessments for vision, hearing, and developmental issues.
  • Develop and implement individual health care plans for students with special medical needs.
  • Monitor and manage communicable diseases, following public health guidelines.
  • Maintain student health records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Educate students, staff, and parents on health-related topics and promote wellness programs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to address student health concerns.
  • Participate in the development of school health policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the school's health office is well-equipped and maintained.
  • Coordinate with local healthcare providers and community resources for student referrals.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in MA
  • DESE license as a School Nurse highly preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Experience in pediatric or school nursing is highly desirable
