Belt Flaker Operator

The Belt Flaker Operator is responsible for running the belt flaker packaging line and tanks of oil on the lines in the appropriate amounts and weights. This role requires a strong understanding of production equipment and the ability to operate safely within established guidelines.

• Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and regulations.
• Write work orders for safety items and maintenance issues.
• Run the belt flaker, packaging line, and associated equipment.
• Operate tanks of oil on the lines in the appropriate amounts and weights as per the schedule from QA-approved tanks.
• Check the schedule for the next tank, obtain samples, and add additives given by the QC laboratory.
• Verify that the temperature of the product is within the designated range before loading.
• Record operating data such as products and quantities packed, tank gauge readings, and operating times.
• Maintain the recipe prescribed process control parameters according to instrument readings, test results, and knowledge of equipment and procedure.
• Perform metal detector checks and documentation as per SOP.
• Replace and check filters regularly as per SOP.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or designee.
• Keep the area clean and complete the sanitation schedule and documentation.
• Ensure Food Safety and Quality by following company Quality Systems and implementing Food Safety in the Finishing department or any department assigned.

• Operate and monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Control operations of equipment or systems.
• Read and comprehend written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
• Make judgments and decisions based on relative costs and benefits.
• Troubleshoot operating errors and decide on corrective actions.
• Listen actively and ask questions as necessary.
• Learn actively and understand the implications of new information for current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Preferred but not required - completion of the Petrochemical Class at JJC or relative years of experience.
• Basic Math Skills.
