Overview:
The NVH Research Engineer will engage in the development and analysis of noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) engineering methodologies to support product innovation initiatives, particularly within the North American Original Equipment (OE) automotive sector, while collaborating with global teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist product development engineers and OE clients in conducting performance evaluations and analyses of products.
- Utilize established NVH tools and technologies, contributing to their enhancement and refinement.
- Work collaboratively with technical staff across the organization as required.
- Consistently document findings and communicate results through comprehensive reports and presentations.
Qualifications:
A Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline is essential, with coursework in structural dynamics, rotating dynamics, and signal analysis.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive sector is required, specifically in applying and developing NVH techniques for tire performance assessments.
Experience with commercial NVH data acquisition and analysis software, such as Siemens/LMS Test, is necessary. Laboratory experience is mandatory.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in measurement techniques including instrumentation (accelerometers, force cells, microphones, etc.)
- Expertise in signal data acquisition, processing, and analysis
- Familiarity with laboratory and on-vehicle noise and vibration measurement techniques
- Knowledge of experimental modal analysis (EMA) methods, including impact and shaker excitation
- Experience in equipment maintenance and calibration
- Understanding of finite element analysis (FEA) methods, including linear, nonlinear, and dynamic substructuring
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Able to thrive in both local and international collaborative team settings.
