Speech-Language Pathologist Job Description

Socorro Consolidated Schools is seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will play a critical role in identifying, evaluating, and providing therapy for students with speech and language impairments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organize and conduct identification programs for students with potential speech/language difficulties.
  • Evaluate speech and language functions, and plan the clinical program for students who have been identified as Speech/Language impaired, Speech Impaired, and/or students having related disabilities with communication needs.
  • Implement the clinical program, and comply with State Standards, District Policies, and ASHA Guidelines in the processes of referral, screening, and placement.
  • Administer appropriate assessments for each area of suspected speech/language impairment, and maintain on-going assessment to verify progress toward established goals.
  • Develop and maintain the instructional component of the IEP according to the results of the evaluation and on-going assessment of progress.
  • Provide therapeutic intervention with students to enhance student performance, and document student progress, attendance, etc.
Requirements:
  • Must hold a current NM Public Education license, N.M. SLP Licensing board license, and National Board Certification for Speech/Language Pathologist (ASHA).
  • Must obtain a minimum of 1.0 CEU's (10 contact hours) per year for licensure requirements.
  • Valid Driver's License and Car Insurance.
  • Ability to travel from site to site.
Working Conditions:

The Speech-Language Pathologist will work in a variety of settings, including classrooms, therapy rooms, and other school environments. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and to prioritize tasks and maintain accurate and detailed records.

The Speech-Language Pathologist will be required to push, pull, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods. The position also requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and to maintain confidentiality with sensitive matters.

Socorro Consolidated Schools provides all training required by OSHA to ensure employee safety.
