Job Summary

Assist in-house counsel in managing legal files, organizing and maintaining large volumes of case-related documents, and coordinating interrogatory responses, requests for documents, and depositions for litigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and manage discovery
  • Assist in-house counsel in setting up and managing legal files
  • Coordinate interrogatory responses, requests for documents, and depositions for litigation
  • Review and analyze basic court documents and draft appropriate pleadings and other court documents for review by in-house counsel
  • Conduct legal and factual research to support litigation strategy
  • Monitor ongoing proceedings to identify applicable orders, pleadings, and due dates
  • Prepare exhibits, trial binders, and other materials needed for hearings and trials
  • Assist in-house counsel and outside counsel by coordinating and scheduling meetings, filing court documents, and maintaining detailed case files
  • Prepare, update, and submit monthly and quarterly litigation reports for Law Department, Business Units, and Accounting/Finance
  • Work with business units in responding to various legal requests, including subpoenas and other court documents
  • Respond to requests from insurers on the status of litigation matters covered by insurance
Requirements
  • Paralegal I: 0-2 years of paralegal or related legal support experience
  • Paralegal II: 2+ years of paralegal or related legal support experience, mastery of skills at the Paralegal I level
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of law in the area supported
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and research skills
  • Ability to recognize and evaluate legal concepts
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines
  • Ability to exercise judgment and decision-making in organizing and conducting work assignments
  • Ability to perform duties under minimal or no supervision
Education Requirements
  • Required Degree: GED, High School Graduate, or equivalent
