Responsibilities:
As part of the CommonSpirit Health team, we are currently seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant for our busy Gastroenterology Clinic.
Position Details:
As a Medical Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to provide care and support to patients under the supervision of a physician or mid-level provider. Your daily tasks will include:
- Welcoming and preparing patients for their appointments by recording vital signs and relevant medical history, including height, weight, allergies, current medications, and presenting concerns.
- Assisting with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures, including blood draws and various types of injections.
- Administering medications and vaccinations as directed.
- Managing patient flow to ensure adequate time for education and discussion with patients and their families.
- Preparing and sterilizing medical instruments, while maintaining a clean and organized patient care environment.
- Coordinating patient appointments and performing other administrative tasks as required.
- Engaging in ongoing education and participating in required meetings and committees.
- Potentially performing medical scribe duties under the supervision of the attending provider, in accordance with established policies.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Completion of a medical assisting program.
- Successful completion of a 40-hour Medication Aide course or possess a current and valid certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
