About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Coding Specialist to join our team at Northwestern Medicine. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Abstract and code physician professional services and diagnosis codes for inpatient admissions, outpatient procedures, and diagnostic services.
  • Assign appropriate CPT and ICD9 codes to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement.
  • Complete coding and billing worksheets to ensure timely and accurate submission of claims.
  • Reconcile accounts to ensure complete and accurate coding and charging.
  • Provide documentation feedback to physicians to improve coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Train physicians and other staff on documentation, billing, and coding best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with new and revised billing and coding guidelines and information.
Requirements
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification.
  • Zero to two years of experience in a relevant role.
  • 94% accuracy on organization's coding test.
