Key Responsibilities- Assist with patient admission, transfer, or discharge, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Provide basic patient care, including activities of daily living, and operate patient care equipment safely and effectively.
- Document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR), including vital signs, nursing care provided, and intake and output.
- Act as a patient and family advocate, providing comfort, assistance, and information, and providing feedback to the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse as directed.
- Participate in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities, supporting department and unit goals in daily behavior.
- Identify recurring clinical practice and unit problems, and participate in problem-solving and resolution.
- Collaborate with other staff to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
- Take responsibility for continued professional growth and development, identifying learning needs and initiating strategies to meet those needs.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Possession of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license from an accredited institution or program.
- Registered and active in the Illinois Department of Public Health - Health Care Worker Registry.
- AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and healthcare providers.
- Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history required.
