Job Title: Regional Technology Specialist

Columbia Gorge Education Service District is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Technology Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our technology department, you will be responsible for providing technical support to users, solving issues with both hardware and software, setting up or removing computers from the network, and troubleshooting and solving basic networking issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver qualified technical support on a daily basis using available resources.
  • Install, modify, and make minor repairs to computer hardware and software systems.
  • Assist in maintaining basic internet access and workstation connectivity.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, and other hardware in schools and at the CGESD.
  • Assist in the implementation of regional/district technology vision, plans, and goals.
  • Participate in select technical training workshops to continue improving skills.
  • Test repaired systems to ensure operational quality before placement.
  • Train customers in the general use and capabilities of their workstation and peripheral devices.
  • Use multiple resources to resolve problems.
  • Attend department and other staff meetings as required.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and available insured vehicle.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to physically perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to diagnose both hardware and software needs for help desk.
  • Ability to install and configure software, hardware components, and peripherals.
  • Complies with rules, statutes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other employees using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, customers, and other support technicians regarding computer hardware, data communications, and other workstation-related problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree or other post-secondary education and/or training preferred.
  • One year professional experience preferred with workstation-related support.
Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the core functions of this job.

The work is performed in a variety of locations which involves driving/travel; usual indoor conditions (i.e., sitting, walking, and climbing stairs).

Must have the ability to repetitively lift and move moderate to heavy weight equipment/boxes lbs.), and the ability to use hand/eye coordination in an efficient manner to support the operation and set-up of computers and related equipment.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Columbia Gorge ESD Board policy on evaluation.

Terms of Employment:

Number of days per year as per negotiated agreement.

Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting: As mandatory reporter (ORS.419b.010) you are required to immediately report to Law Enforcement and/or Department of Human Services, any instances of suspected child abuse.
