Position Overview

The Adult ESL Educator is responsible for delivering effective classroom instruction, dedicating approximately 12 hours weekly, which includes up to 4 hours allocated for preparation. This role primarily focuses on serving adult learners who predominantly speak Spanish.

The instructor collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to coordinate the essential elements required for the successful implementation and support of Adult Education programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver ESL instruction tailored to adult students.
  • Design and organize class schedules and engaging activities.
  • Work alongside the Adult Education Coordinator to create relevant curriculum materials.
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans that meet the needs of learners.
  • Assist in the recruitment, assessment, and registration of clients.
  • Integrate civic education components in collaboration with the Community Organizing team.

Additionally, the instructor is tasked with compiling accurate attendance data and collaborating with a data entry assistant to ensure the information is complete and timely. It is crucial to maintain compliance with program policies and procedures. Regular participation in monthly meetings with the Adult Education Coordinator is also expected.
