Job Description

Under general supervision, functions as a liaison team leader with management, professional accounting staff and external auditors, typically requiring the application of advanced accounting and auditing knowledge, and performs related duties as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participates in the City's financial management of Business Type Activities, responsible for the preparation of financial statements in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prepares and reviews regulatory agency filings, including Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 15-C212, and Governmental Financial Officers Association - GFOA Comments.
  • Participates in the preparation and review of airport annual audits, including Passenger Facility Charges Settlements and Use Agreement Long Form Settlements.
  • Prepares and reviews the annual Report on Federal Awards to meet the requirements of the OMB Uniform Guidance, a government-wide network framework for grants management.
  • Coordinates and assists with the annual audit of basic financial statements, including requests for financial documents from other City departments and monitoring auditing team progress.
  • Makes recommendations for maintaining and improving accounting and reporting procedures for Business Type Activities of the Primary Government.
  • Trains and coordinates training for professional accounting and auditing staff.
  • Stays up-to-date on GASB pronouncements and assists with the implementation of financial and reporting requirements.
  • Participates in the establishment and maintenance of an internal control structure to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.

Additional duties may be required for this position.

Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a directly related field with 15 credit hours in Accounting.
  • Three (3) years of professional auditing experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met.
