Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Worker to join our team at Westwood Public Schools MA. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cafeteria and providing excellent service to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lead Cook and Cooks in preparing school lunches, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and adhering to food safety guidelines.
  • Take directions and guidance from Lead Cook or Cook to execute School Lunch Menus in accordance with the National School Lunch Program.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary working practices, including proper food handling techniques and portion control.
  • Record temperatures and maintain records for food put on the serving line.
  • Assist in dishwashing, cleaning as you go, and sanitizing equipment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the team, participate in daily pre-meal meetings, and check with the team at the end of every shift.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a high-energy environment, work effectively as part of a team, and arrive on time and in complete uniform.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • ServeSafe Certification (can be obtained after hire).
  • Allergen Training (can be obtained after hire).
  • C.P.R Certification (can be obtained after hire).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Sufficient vision to read printed documents and view detail on a computer screen.
  • Ability to hear sounds clearly up to twenty feet.
  • Ability to travel among buildings.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds off the floor and 15 pounds overhead.
Work Environment

The work takes place in a fast-paced school environment, including kitchens, servery, dry storage rooms, walk-in refrigerators/freezers.
