System Safety Engineer Position with Complex System Integration

Auria Space is seeking a seasoned System Safety Engineer 3 to support the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program in Colorado Springs.

C2BMC connects disparate systems and sensors to provide a comprehensive picture and enable strategic decisions in defense scenarios. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the safety assurance of our critical defense systems.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop Comprehensive Safety Plans: Apply safety policies and guidance within the engineering team to ensure the highest standards of safety are met.
  • Support Program Personnel: Collaborate with MDA and other program personnel as required, participating in System Safety Working Groups to drive safety excellence.
  • Contribute to Systems Engineering Tasks: Integrate product lines, generate capable specifications, and contribute to the development of new and existing systems.
  • Integrate Product Lines: Seamlessly integrate hardware and software to meet complex system requirements.
  • Generate Capable Specifications: Develop responsible sections of capability specifications that meet stringent safety standards.
  • Train Less Experienced Personnel: Share your expertise with junior team members, training them in Systems Engineering and Safety techniques.
  • Review Technical Products: Act as a technical interface to MDA working-level counterparts on an as-required basis, ensuring safety-centric design features are incorporated.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Clearance: An active Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.
  • Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field, along with 5 years' experience; or a master's degree in a related field, along with 3 years' experience; or 9 years' experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Background in System Engineering: A background in system engineering specializing in system and software safety is essential.
  • Experience with Safety Documentation: Develop safety documentation (SAR, SRA, SSPP) and identify hazards to ensure compliance with MIL-STD-882E.
  • Knowledge of Engineering Principles: Apply engineering principles to recommend safety-centric design features.
  • Systems and Software Engineering Experience: Develop new and integrate existing systems, requiring experience in developing and integrating hardware and software to meet complex system requirements.
  • Effective Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, clearly presenting technical approaches and findings to stakeholders.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $99,000 - $113,000, based on qualifications, skills, education, and experience.
