We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Structural Engineer to join our team at J.S. Held LLC. As a key member of our Forensic A&E department, you will be responsible for conducting forensic investigations, providing consultation, and preparing technical papers.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a focus on structural systems and building envelope systems. You will work closely with our team of professionals to provide expert witness services, damage or failure assessments, and evaluations of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field observations and data collection
  • Prepare reports detailing observations made and results obtained
  • Work alongside licensed professional engineers to conduct forensic investigations and provide consultation
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school
  • State EI-certification
  • Ability to take the P.E. exam within one to three years of employment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to perform minor structural design
  • Familiarity with building envelope and roofing systems
Physical and Mental Job Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel to various project sites and conduct field investigations
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments, both indoors and outdoors
