Summary/Objective

The HydroVac Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, maintenance, productivity, and overall efficiency of the HydroVac Truck. This role will receive guidance from a Mainline Lead or a Field Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the HydroVac unit operates without safety issues or defects (report any concerns immediately).
  • Accurately document all travel, onsite, and miscellaneous time using DOT forms/apps.
  • Conduct a thorough truck evaluation at the start of each shift and document findings on DOT forms/apps.
  • Perform sewer cleaning and debris removal tasks.
  • Execute hydroexcavation and excavation activities.
  • Assist mainline and other camera trucks with equipment or scope of work as needed.
  • Utilize GIS technology to document production and site conditions.
  • Carry out routine maintenance as specified for equipment, including but not limited to greasing and lubricating, valve operations, and winterization.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas and truck compartments.
  • Ensure all hoses and attachments are neatly coiled or stored when not in use.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A safe driving record is essential.
  • A High School Diploma is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of HydroVac operations experience is preferred.
  • Possession of a valid class of CDL and tanker endorsement is preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain the necessary class of CDL and tanker endorsement may be considered.
  • Proven ability to deliver results while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes is crucial.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position involves a work environment with high risks, including exposure to potentially hazardous situations or unusual environmental stressors that necessitate a range of safety precautions. Physical exertion is required, including lifting, carrying, or pushing heavy objects exceeding 70 pounds. The HydroVac operator typically works independently on the truck for most of the time. Personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, safety vests, and gloves must be worn. Exposure to extreme temperatures, animals/insects, electrical hazards, high-pressure water/air, confined spaces, heights, noise, dust, irritants, and moving mechanical parts is expected.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Extended hours may be necessary based on business needs.

Travel Requirements

Some travel may be necessary based on contract obligations.
