About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team at Amazon. As a key member of our team, you will serve as a trusted advisor to our business teams on all phases of the product development life cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Advise on the application of a range of laws, compliance issues, and industry standards, with a focus on safety, privacy, public policy, and regulatory concerns.
  2. Review products, processes, features, and initiatives to provide advice consistent with Amazon's legal obligations globally.
  3. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Engineering, Privacy, Public Policy, Marketing, Comms, and Trust & Safety.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • California Bar admission in good standing (or California Registered In-House Counsel)
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience working on technology-related issues, with 1+ year of in-house experience preferred
  • Experience advising clients in the video, mobile, gaming, e-commerce, online marketplaces, user generated content, or internet products/services sectors
  • Experience analyzing and advising clients on US and international laws regarding content policies, youth safety, privacy and data protection, and/or trust & safety
  • Collegial attitude, desire to work on a highly collaborative team, and sense of humor
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity and understanding of Amazon's business
  • Experience as product counsel at a technology company
  • Experience with video games, esports, social media, or services hosting user generated content
