Ultrasound Tech II Job Description

UNC Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Tech II to join our team in Raleigh, NC. As a key member of our Maternal Fetal Medicine department, you will be responsible for operating diagnostic medical equipment to expose complex diagnostic conditions and performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist radiologists in performing invasive diagnostic techniques, such as needle biopsies and guided needle-wire placement exams, and provide standardization and training to residents.
  • Evaluate contra-indications, such as medications or patient preparation, and perform ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision.
  • Recognize sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow, and analyze findings throughout the examination.
  • Image structures while obtaining Doppler signal and recording images and Doppler shift recordings, and advise radiologists and referring physicians of results.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a 12-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent certificate program.
  • RDMS registration with certification in at least one modality specific to the department of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Three years of experience as an Ultrasound Tech and completion of departmental specific Sonographer competencies within 12 months of hire.
Job Details:
  • Full-time position with 36 hours per week.
  • $43.10 per hour (hiring range).
  • Exempt from overtime.
  • Onsite work assignment.
  • Day job schedule.
